Taurus is a character who appears in the episode "The New Olympians", which is an episode of the Disney animated series, Gargoyles.

Background[]

A descendant of the original Minotaur who was killed by Theseus in the labyrinth, Taurus himself is a minotaur who serves as a guardian of Mew Olympus as well as his father who preceded him as the Chief of Security and then was kileld by Proteus. Because of his family history, Taurus felt suspicious towards humans, thinking they are a threat to New Olympians such as the case of Elisa Maza during her arrival to New Olympus, whom he thinks she is a threat. Later, wwhen Elisa plans to help ccapture Proteus who is attempting to destroy the island of New Olympus, Taurus then realized that not all humans are evil and then allowed her to leave the island with the Manhattan Clan.

Role in the series[]

In "The New Olympians", Taurus and the other New Olympians thought Elisa was trespassing on the island, taking her to the Senate House, despite Elisa herself not actually doing anything harmful to the New Olympians. Soon as Goliath, Angela, and Bronx arrived in the Senate House, Taurus shares his his story about the loss of his ancestor, the Minotaur, who was killed by a hero known as Theseus in the Labyrinth. Soon as he believes humans are harmful, the crowd agrees of Taurus' comment about humans being a threat to descendants of New Olympians.

While ambushed by an angry mob, Taurus alerts the crowd to stop attacking the Manhattan Clan. Elisa is later arrested for causing a riot under Taurus' orders and later delivers Elisa to her prison cell while Taurus is on his way to check for problems. As Elisa causes an angry mob to harass her, Taurus arrives to stop the riot from harassing Elisa, prompting the mob to move along before he arrests them. Taurus then asks Helios to check the pyrotechnic problems before he loses his job.

The next day, Taurus arrives at the Columnadium where Proteus is damaging the computer system of New Olympus. Taurus ended confronting Proteus in his cyclops form, punching his eye and saving New Olympus while shouting "This is for my father" as he plans to provide justice for him. With Proteus foiled, Taurus arrested him back to and brought him back to his prison cell. Later when the Manhattan Clan plans to leave New Olympus with Elisa's bad reputation dealt with, Taurus finally allowed Elisa to leave the island with the Manhattan Clan, despairing her to be the first human to visit the island of New Olympus.

Note: This section is not considered canon.

In "Seeing Isn't Believing", Taurus ends up getting ambushed by Hudson in the butchery, thinking the minotaur is a criminal. He admits that he is actually on an emergency mission to capture Proteus who escaped into Manhattan. He rescues Elisa again who almost fell to dangerous fan blades. Taurus, along with Hudson, Angela, and Elisa go on a search for Proteus. It is revealed that Goliath who is captive is Proteus while on a search. Taurus soon threw an anchor to find the real Goliath who is captive. As the real Elisa Maza and the other one (which is Proteus), Taurus has a force field cell to capture which one is Proteus. Soon as Proteus is captured, Taurus brings him back to New Olympus to put him in prison again.
