"Surviving the Spiderbites" is the second segment of the sixty-second episode of Star vs. the Forces of Evil. It premiered on March 24, 2019 alongside "The Ponyhead Show!".
Synopsis
Star tries to keep the Spider Bites family occupied while Eclipsa runs late for dinner.
Plot
Star has prepared a get together for the Spiderbite Family at New Castle Butterfly (the new name for the monster temple) and wants everything in working order. Unfortunately, Eclipsa is nowhere to be seen and things are becoming tense. The Spiderbites arrive with the King and Queen noticeably apathetic about everything and their daughter Penelope is only interested in looking at her phone. Star tries showing all the great things at the castle including an art gallery and a live performance, but the Spiderbites show no interest in any of it. When Star calls them out for being prejudiced against monsters, Slime Monster appears; revealing himself to be Penelope's boyfriend and in good faith with the Spiderbites, much to Star's confusion.
Penelope was texting Slime this whole time and the Spiderbites claim to have no ill will against monsters. However they dislike Globgor and reveal that all the artwork is about his supposed tyranny and that the performance was also offensive (later revealed by Eclipsa to be the Dance of Death). They are further offended by the fact that Eclipsa failed to show up. Using the all seeing eye spell, Star learns that she is with Glossaryck in the middle of some kind of project. Star angrily confronts her and Eclipsa admits her blunder. She prepares herself and heads back to make amends with the Spiderbites who still do not trust her.
Eclipsa takes the Spiderbites into the underground chamber to reveal that Globgor is in fact still crystallized and tells them that he will remain this way for the safety of Mewni. The Spiderbites, now at ease, accept to align with Mewni and Eclipsa and leave on good terms. Star asks Eclipsa what she was doing and she reveals that she was working with Glossaryck to reform the Book of Spells, not for Globgor, but for herself as she never mastered magic the right way. She asks if any piece of the book exists and Star denies it. However, as Star heads back into her closet, she secretly checks on the book's edge that still exists.
