"Scare Tactics" is the first segment of the fifteenth episode of the Disney Channel animated series, The Ghost and Molly McGee.
Synopsis[]
After Scratch ditches class in favor of a fun day off with Geoff, he struggles to pass his scare test.
Plot[]
Scratch gets up early in the morning to sneak away, but Molly wakes up and catches him. Scratch reveals that he has to attend a yearly scaring seminar and thus will be unable to hang out with her. Despite him finding the seminar long and boring, he has to attend it or face punishment and leaves. The seminar, hosted by a ghost named Pango, begins to drain on Scratch until he sees that Geoff is also in attendance and manages to convince him to sneak away with him and play hooky; leaving two gelatin facsimiles as a distraction. In the meantime, Molly discovers that her family is doing other things and Libby has a dental appointment, so she'll have to spend the day alone. While talking with her dolls, she discovers Heidi Hairylegs, Darryl's tarantula.
Molly is terrified of Heidi and tries to find a way to get rid of her, but cannot fathom going near her. She calls Darryl, who is in the middle of something, and he tells her that he needs to catch Heidi because she is due to give birth soon and could potentially have thousands of babies. Meanwhile, Scratch and Geoff are having a good time playing hooky by getting massages and partying at the club. Upon their return to the seminar, Pango ask that for the end of this year's seminar, the ghosts recreate the various scares they have learned for the Chairman or face punishment in the Flow of Failed Phantoms, much to Scratch and Geoff's terror. Molly manages to catch Heidi, but when she barely touches her, Molly panics and drops her; causing her to escape back into the house.
To Scratch's surprise, Geoff manages to perform a complex scare and gets approved. However, Scratch fails to perform and is about to be sent to the Flow of Failed Phantoms, when Geoff defends him; telling Pango and the Chairman that Scratch has mastered a revolutionary way of scaring. They look into the human world and see a terrified Molly missing Scratch. Convinced, they approve him. Scratch returns to check on a now calm Molly watering the flowers. He apologizes for being away for so long, but she tells him that she is fine now, though now the house has been overrun by Heidi and her offspring, frightening the two.
