Ouroboros, born as A.D. Doug and also known as O.B. is Marvel Comics character who made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Disney+ series Loki. He is the head of the TVA's Repairs and Advancement department, as well as being its only employee. He also played a critical role in trying to expand the rings of the Temporal Loom.
Ouroboros was created by Dan Slott, Juan Bobillo, Paul Pelletier, Rick Magyar, Scott Kolins, Mike Vosburg, Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Ron Frenz, Joe Sinnott, Sal Buscema, Mike Mayhew, Donald Simpson, Lee Weeks, Eric Powell, Tom Grummett and Gary Erskine.
Background[]
A.D. Doug previously had a happy life on the Sacred Timeline as the author of the sci-fi novels The Zartan Contingent and The Sons of Yoren, as well as being a theoretical physics professor at the California Institute of Technology. He then unknowingly created a nexus event and was captured by the Time Variance Authority and his timeline was destroyed. Instead of being pruned and sent to the Void like all other Variants, he was spared by He Who Remains, who erased his memories and put him as the head of the TVA's Repairs and Advancement department under the his new name Ouroboros.
For a while, Ouroboros and the rest of the TVA's employees knew He Who Remains was the organization's founder and ruler. However, sometime after the Multiversal War ended, He Who Remains decided to erase the memories of his employees again, and created the Time Keepers. After this, his employees were told they and the TVA were created by the Time Keepers, unaware of the fact that they were mindless androids controlled by He Who Remains.

A few hundred years before the main events of the series begin, Ouroboros is repairing an object in his office when he meets Loki, who suddenly time slipped in front of him. Loki asks if he can call Ouroboros "O.B.", as that is the name he is called during the series. Loki explains that he had been time slipping, though Ouroboros dismisses this because up to this point, he had believed time slipping in the TVA was possible. Loki asks Ouroboros how to hypothetically get rid of time slipping, to which Ouroboros replies that he would need a Temporal Aura Extractor and Loki would have to pruned for it to work. Loki tells Ouroboros to start working on a Temporal Aura Extractor, and that his friend Mobius would pick it up later. Loki then time slipped into the future, to the surprise of Ouroboros.
Sometime after this, Ouroboros developed a friendship with Mobius after Mobius got off on the wrong floor.
Ouroboros is working on repairing a TemPad when Loki and Mobius appear in his workspace. Mobius tells Loki, who was time slipping as a result of being kicked through a Time Door to the past TVA, that Ouroboros would be able to fix it. Ouroboros greets Mobius, who says he hasn't seen him in 400 years, and Ouroboros says he knew Mobius after Mobius got off on the wrong floor. Suddenly, Loki time slips in front of Ouroboros, who says it is impossible to time slip in the TVA, as he has never seen it before. Suddenly, Ouroboros remembered having seen it once before a few hundred years ago, when Loki time slipped in front of him. Ouroboros recounts his conversation with Mobius, and Mobius asks Ouroboros if he has a Temporal Aura Extractor. Ouroboros said he did not, but then he remembered he did, as he started constructing one after his conversation with Loki. Mobius asks how they would stop Loki's time slipping, and Ouroboros says they would need to use it in the Temporal Loom, but if he was not quick enough, Mobius's skin would be peeled off, and Loki would have to be pruned for it to work. Loki then time slips back into the present. Ouroboros's lamp begins to flicker and says the TVA must be having random power surges. Mobius tells Ouroboros all the lights in the TVA have been flickering. Alarmed by this, he hurries to the Temporal Loom, with Loki and Mobius following him. They enter the room containing the Loom, and Ouroboros is shocked to see that it is overloaded with branches as a result of Sylvie killing He Who Remains. Concerned, Ouroboros says they would have to prune the branches, but Hunter B-15, who had joined them on their way to the Loom, objects. Ouroboros orders Mobius to put on a special suit made to temporarily prevent the user from being killed by the radiation emitted by the Loom. Before Mobius goes, Loki time slips, making their mission difficult.
Mobius heads out to activate the Temporal Aura Extractor, while Loki searches for a Time Stick in the future TVA where he time slipped to. Ouroboros told Mobius that he would only have a certain amount of time to activate the extractor and get back, and if he didn't Ouroboros would be forced to close the blast doors. Mobius was able to activate the extractor, but Loki had yet to come back, meaning that he failed to find a Time Stick in time. Ouroboros tells Mobius that he has thirty seconds before the blast doors close. Defeated, Mobius starts to head back, and Ouroboros says he won't make it back. Suddenly, Loki is thrown from one of the branches after being pruned, and he hits Mobius which throws them back safely through the blast doors.
After fixing Loki's time slipping problem, Ouroboros starts to work on the Loom, and he is approached by Mobius and Loki to take a look at a TemPad. Ouroboros asks them if it is more important than fixing the Loom, and they say it is not. Ouroboros then hands them a copy of the Time Variance Authority Official Handbook, which he wrote. He tells them that whatever they need to find out about the TemPad will be in the book.
Ouroboros is able to create a device that will potentially fix the Loom, though he cannot open the blast doors, and Miss Minutes, He Who Remains, or a Variant of him are the only ones who can.
After this Ouroboros and Casey (who is a fan of Ouroboros) help trace the location of General Dox and her loyalists, who were pruning the branched timelines.
After they are able to stop the attack, Ouroboros and many others stare in shock at the monitor tracking the branches, as they realize how many people Dox and her soldiers had killed. Suddenly, they are able to get a hit on Ravonna Renslayer's TemPad, and Ouroboros revealed the information they had gotten.
After originally planning on finding Miss Minutes, Loki and Mobius instead stumbled upon Victor Timely, a Variant of He Who Remains, and brought him to the TVA Headquarters. After this, Ouroboros, Casey, and Victor Timely began working on a device called the Throughput Multiplier, which was designed to increase the rings of the Loom.
While still working on the multiplier, Victor Timely decided to try the hot chocolate machine, though he was kidnapped by Ravonna, Miss Minutes, and a hunter named X-5. After they began to search, he was eventually found and was hurried to the room containing the loom, and had his temporal aura scanned. Loki was originally going to be the one that would go out and expand the Loom, though Victor Timely offered to go. Timely was spaghettified mere seconds after the blast doors opened due to the amount of radiation, to the shock of everyone watching. The loom then exploded, which started killing the branched timelines and its inhabitants, which included Ouroboros and the rest of the TVA's employees. However, Loki was able to time slip before the explosion happened, and he destroyed the loom and was able to save the branched timelines and the TVA's employees, becoming the god of the Multiverse. Ouroboros then went on to co-write a second edition of the TVA's handbook with Victor Timely.
