―Morgan to Tony[src]

Morgan H. Stark is a Marvel Cinematic Universe character who is the daughter of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, and was born during the snap. Morgan Stark was created by Don Heck and Al Hartley.

Background

Biography

Morgan was born in 2019[1] to Tony Stark and Pepper Potts after Thanos snapped half of the Universe's population into dust. She was named after Pepper's uncle.

Personality

Morgan was shown to be a very inquisitive, sneaky little girl when she was first introduced. Morgan grew up in Tony Stark's new residence far away from civilization, off the grid with her father and mother. All of them lived a happy life after the Decimation. Morgan was shown to be a very sweet little girl, but enjoyed playing with her father's former Iron Man helmets, including one he had made for her mother Pepper as an anniversary gift. Despite that, Morgan was also shown to be very sweet, but shy when it came to meeting new people, when Steve Rogers, Black Widow and Scott Lang came to speak to Tony, when Morgan shyly snuck her head into her daddy's shoulders upon meeting the strangers. When she is around people she knows, Morgan was shown to be able to open up as seen after her father's funeral and she happily spoke to Happy.

Appearances

Avengers: Infinity War

While Morgan does not appear in the film, due to her not being born until 1 year later, Tony does tell Pepper that he had a dream the night before about them having a daughter named Morgan. Believing it to be very realistic, Tony asks Pepper if she is indeed pregnant to which she shuts down, much to his disappointment.

Avengers: Endgame

Avengers Endgame - Funeral of Tony Stark

Morgan attends her father's funeral

Four years after her birth, Morgan came to see her father after Pepper asked her to "come and save him" when he was speaking to former allies, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romonoff and Scott Lang. Morgan was shown to by quite shy of the guests and Tony refused to help them with time travel as he didn't want to do anything that could erase Morgan from existence.

However, that evening, Tony decided to and successfully invented time travel, which woke Morgan up and she asked her daddy what he was doing, accidentally swearing in the process, much to Tony's dismay. Tony then put Morgan to bed and she told him she loved him 3000, much to his amazement and in awe. When Tony visited the Avengers Compound the following morning, he met with Steve and agreed to help them get the stones as long as it meant he wouldn't lose Morgan as a result.

Morgan was then seen attending the funeral of her father and watching a holographic message he had left for her, after he sacrificed his own life to erase Thanos and his army from existence.

After the funeral, she sat with Happy Hogan, telling him she wanted a cheeseburger due to being hungry. After Happy pointed out that Tony loved burgers, he said he would give Morgan as many as she wanted.

Relationships

Tony Stark/Iron Man

Avengers Endgame - Tony & Morgan Stark

Tony was Morgan's father who passed away when she was only 4 years old. Before his death, they had a very close bond as shown in Avengers: Endgame and he even dreamed of having a daughter named Morgan in Avengers: Infinity War. Tony was shown to be a very loving father to Morgan and never got mad at her for playing with a special present he had made for her mother, Pepper. Tony was seen enjoying nicknaming his daughter and spent time with her eating juice pops when she went to bed. Before Morgan went to sleep, she told Tony that she loved him 3000, which clearly meant a lot to him as he mentioned it to Pepper afterward. When Tony time travelled to an alternate 1970, he gushed about Morgan to an alternate version of his father, Howard Stark, giving his father tips on how to raise a kid, as Howard and Maria were expecting a baby within a month, whom unknown to Howard was Tony. Morgan was shown to struggle with her father's loss after the funeral as she had lost him at such a young age. A deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame revealed that Tony met a teenaged Morgan in the soul world after he snapped his fingers, which gave them closure on their relationship. When Tony recorded a final message, in case he wouldn't make it out alive from the time heist, he told Morgan he loved her 3000.

Pepper Potts

Pepper is Morgan's mother who raises her alone after Tony's death. Although their relationship wasn't really shown in "Endgame", they were assumed to have a close bond when Morgan was growing up. Pepper comforts her little girl at Tony's funeral as they were mourning the loss of their beloved father/husband. Pepper continues to raise Morgan off-screen after the events of the film.

Happy Hogan

Avengers Endgame - Morgan Stark and Happy Hogan

Although their relationship isn't shown much in "Endgame", they are shown to very close after Tony's funeral. Happy is shown comforting Morgan and promises her that he will get her all the cheeseburgers she wants to cheer her up. It is highly assumed that Morgan and Happy spent quite a lot of time together during the 5 years in which the Blip took place, as shown by their close bond at the end of the film.

Trivia

  • In the original comics Morgan was Tony Stark's cousin.
  • In a deleted scene, after snapping his fingers, Tony was to visit the Soulworld and meet an older version of Morgan who would forgive him before his death. The scene was omitted because test audiences had no emotional resonance with the older Morgan.[2]
    • The adult Morgan was going to be portrayed by Katherine Langford.
  • She was going to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but her role was cut from the film for unknown reasons.[3]
  • Her middle name starts with H, as mentioned by Tony, which could be for Howard. If true, this would mean Morgan was named after two men in her family.
  • Morgan was born in 2019, making her 4 years old by time of her father's death, in October 2023.[1]
  • Morgan is one of two children to have been born during the blip period, the other being T'Challa II, son of the late king of Wakanda, T'Challa and Nakia, although Morgan seems to be younger than T'Challa II. Both kids lost their fathers in a matter of months.
