The movie is inspired by the song "Faroeste Caboclo" by the Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana. The song was written by Renato Russo in 1979, but it was only released in 1987. The song appears in the end credits.
One of Renato Russo's favorite movies was Quadrophenia (1979), based on The Who rock opera of the same name. Similarly, two of Russo's own songs would inspire movies as well: Brazilian Western (2013) and Eduardo and Monica (2020).
