The film, like many of Béla Tarr's films, contains one of the longest average shot lengths in any motion picture: 145.7 seconds. A single long take approximately 4 hours into the movie lasts an incredible 10 minutes, 14 seconds.
The movie was filmed between 4 February 1992 and 16 January 1994.
Dorka Gryllus visited a friend on the set of Sátántangó, and was impressed by the whole "feeling of film making". It was then, when she decided to be a film actress - and in a few years, she became a famous Hungarian actress.
