Utterly out-of-nowhere department. Thanks to friends we stumbled upon Nightbitch, an upcoming horror-comedy starring Amy Adams (Enchanted, Arrival), based on a 2021 novel by Rachel Yoder. Adams stars as a suburban mom not only struggling with raising her young son, but also wrestling with resentment over having to give up her previous life as an artist. Oh, and at night, she’s turning into a domestic dog. Yes. The film is directed by Marielle Heller, and it’s coming to theaters on December 6th. Check out the first trailer — but be warned, it does have some naughty words!

The Vanity Fair : What it means to us, and thoughts about it.
Posted by Feren on Tue 13 Feb 2001 - 21:24Well, the much hated, feared, and anticipated article from Vanity Fair is out. As has become common knowledge, there was a reporter from the magazine at Midwest FurFest 2000, who interviewed several people in the furry fandom and spent some time at the convention.
Data loss
Posted by Aureth on Tue 13 Feb 2001 - 09:37Last night, Flayrah.com's web provider evidently moved the site to a new server without advance notification. I recieved notification only this morning when I checked my mail; the move evidently happened in the early morning hours. As far as I can tell, they used a slightly dated backup when moving the site. As a result, we lost a couple days worth of posts and comments. I'm not happy with this, but there appears to be nothing I can do to recover this data.
Interview with Author of "The Fox Woman"
Posted by Micah on Fri 9 Feb 2001 - 12:09SFSite has an interview this issue with the author of The Fox Woman, a fantasy novel about a kitsune. I haven't read this one, but I've read some of Johnson's other work and found it intriguing. The interview's neat... anyone read the book yet? This is the site's review of it.

Mother Hitton's Littul Kittons
Posted by mwalimu on Thu 8 Feb 2001 - 13:24One of Cordwainer Smith's stories, Mother Hitton's Littul Kittons, is available online. Smith is one of the great classic authors of science fiction and is highly recommended. If you haven't read any of his stories, this is as good a place as any to start.
Zen Online Comic
Posted by Micah on Wed 7 Feb 2001 - 16:46I found Journey to the West by accident. It's a daily online strip in color about... well, a zen coyote, a fox who's a cross between Agent Scully and Lara Croft, an alien and his Siamese wife and a bigfoot. Oh, and the Men in Black. It's funny, but in a Zen sort of way, and some strips are little exercises in meditation. Additionally, it's drawn in a very artistic style. Much fun, and very unusual. Check it out!
