The Mentor was a holonovel written by The Doctor aboard the USS Voyager-A in 2384, inspirited by his time chaperoning the young crew from the USS Protostar. It told the story of a mentor and their student, replete with colorful descriptions and similes.
The Doctor was narrating the ending to his holonovel to a PADD in sickbay, when a crewman misinterpreted his conclusionary remark for a medical diagnosis. (PRO: "Ouroboros, Part II")
