Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

This IP is engaging in behavior very reminiscent of DirtySocks357(WreckItRalph), blocked in May as a sockpuppet of Cleter. In April, DirtySocks made a series of edits to articles on MLB teams changing the opening sentence from "professional [[baseball]] team" to "[[professional baseball]] team". Here are some, but not all, examples of them doing that: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]. Yesterday, the IP started a series of edits to the articles on NBA teams this time, again changing the opening sentence from "professional [[basketball]] team" to "[[professional basketball]] team". Here are some, but not all, examples of them doing that: [8] [9] [10] [11] [12].
Both the already-blocked sock DS and the IP react in a similar way when one of these edits gets reverted by someone who disagrees, reverting back and claiming in an edit summary that the reader would rather the "professional [sport]" link than the "[sport]" link:
DS ([13]): Go ahead and tell me some more teams with baseball in it, also more people would be more familiar with “baseball” and so “professional baseball” would be something the readers need information of
IP ([14]): It is an improvement, the use of professional basketball directs people to a more precise topic of sports in the big leagues, as opposed to the sport itself basketball. Next time, explain why something isn’t an improvement rather than merely stating that it isn’t so.
Both have also edited Washington Nationals: DS as part of the series above, and the IP here, as one of their earliest edits: [15]. Egsan Bacon (talk) 22:09, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
