Agatha All Along‘s first major Marvel comics Easter egg might be the answer to one of the Disney+ show’s biggest mysteries: Who is Heartstopper star Joe Locke playing in the WandaVision spin-off? For months — even years — fans have speculated that Locke’s “Teen” was obviously supposed to be the teenaged version of Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan.

Billy and his twin brother Tommy were indeed introduced in WandaVision as Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) twin sons conjured in the Scarlet Witch’s fantasy version of Westview. It would make sense that Wanda’s misadventures with the Darkhold in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would result in Billy finding himself cast adrift in the MCU’s main universe, trapped under a spell only Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) could save him from. However, the very first episode of Agatha All Along hints that Joe Locke could be playing a very different Marvel witch’s son.

Is Joe Locke playing Agatha’s long-lost son, Nicholas Scratch??

**Spoilers for the first two episodes of Agatha All Along, now streaming on Disney+**

Fans of WandaVision will remember that the series ends with Wanda Maximoff not only fully embracing her power as the Scarlet Witch, but trapping Agatha Harkness in a spell where she forgets who she is. Agatha is now stuck living her days in a television show narrative, much like Wanda and the people of Westview had been.

Agatha All Along opens with Agatha living out her own version of HBO‘s Mare of Easttown called “Agnes of Westview.” Kathryn Hahn fully embodies Kate Winslet’s performance in the detective drama, sporting a Philly accent and coping with deep personal grief. When we follow “Agnes” home, we learn that she once had a little boy named Nicky, or Nicholas Scratch. Almost immediately after this, Joe Locke’s “Teen” character bursts into the narrative as a would be thief.

After Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal helps Agatha claw her way out of the now dead Scarlet Witch’s spell, our titular anti-heroine discovers that the Teen is not only real, but that he wants her to lead him down the legendary Witches’ Road. Adding to the intrigue, whenever Agatha asks the Teen to tell her about himself, he is muted by magical forces.

So who exactly is Nicholas Scratch in the MCU? Is he the same character from Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina? And is Joe Locke actually playing Agatha’s long-lost son in Agatha All Along?

Who is Agatha Harkness’s Son in Agatha All Along? All About Marvel’s Nicholas Scratch:

Agatha All Along reveals that the MCU’s version of Agatha Harkness once had a son named Nicholas Scratch. So, too, did the Marvel Comics version of Agatha.

Nicholas Scratch was a villain introduced in a 1970s run of Fantastic Four comics written by Len Wein with art by George Pérez. Agatha’s son was born and raised in the secret magical community of New Salem, Colorada. Agatha left her son behind in the comics to live among humans and eventually became Franklin Richards’s nanny. An adult Nicholas had seven children of his own, known in the comics as — get this — the Salem Seven. (You know the same creepy hoard hunting down Agatha at the end of Agatha All Along Episode 2.)

Because the MCU has made a lot of changes to Agatha Harkness from the comics, most notably in personality and aesthetics, we expect Nicholas’s story to be slightly different. That said, don’t be shocked if he is connected to Agatha All Along‘s version of the Salem Seven. It just feels like too big of a coincidence.

Is Joe Locke Playing Nicholas Scratch or Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan, in Agatha All Along?

We don’t know who Joe Locke is playing in Agatha All Along, but the two most likely suspects are now Nicholas Scratch or Billy Maximoff.

If Locke is playing a version of Nicholas Scratch, it’s possible that he either doesn’t know Agatha is his mother, or that he’s been raised to antagonize her by some other dark force. Could be an interesting twist, considering Agatha seems otherwise totally detached from other people.

That said, all the Nicholas Scratch Easter eggs could also be red herrings, distracting us — and Agatha — from the more obvious casting choice. As Agnes, Agatha herself remarks that Wanda Maximoff might not be really dead. If Locke is playing Billy Maximoff, he might be walking the Witches’s Road to eventually meet and resurrect his mother in the MCU.

Of course, the Teen could just be a random teen. But where’s the fun in that?

Is Marvel’s Nicholas Scratch the Same Character as Gavin Leatherwood’s Nick Scratch in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina?

They might both be comic book characters with dark magical abilities named Nicholas Scratch, but Agatha All Along‘s “Nicky” is not the same character Gavin Leatherwood plays in Netflix’s CAOS. “Old Nick” and “Mr. Scratch” are old folk names for the Devil, hence why two different comic book series decided to name warlock characters Nicholas Scratch.
