Hit Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso is approaching a Season 4 renewal.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Television has scooped up the options on original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift.

Jason Sudeikis will likely be involved in the revival in some capacity as an executive producer. Still, it’s unlikely he will be a central focus of the new season after the events of Season 3.

Since Waddingham, Goldstein, and Swift are U.K. Equity members instead of U.S. SAG-AFTRA members, news of their contracts was revealed first. Negotiations for SAG-AFTRA cast will be the next to happen.

There has been chatter about a potential Ted Lasso revival since the show concluded with its Season 3 finale in May 2023.

Back in January, Warner Bros. TV CEO Channing Dungey kept the door open to the possibility of extending the series.

“I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be,” Dungey told Variety. “I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet. There is still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso.’ And I think that there still is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Apple for ‘Ted Lasso.’ Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back in to making more…. There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”

Ted Lasso follows Sudeikis as its titular character, a small-time college football coach from Kansas who’s recruited to coach a struggling professional soccer team in England, despite having no soccer coaching experience. Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, and Phil Dunster also star.

The series was based on a comical recurring NBC Sports skit that Sudeikis led, that involved some of the same characters. The Apple TV+ series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Hunt, and Joe Kelly.

Apple TV+ has not yet made an official announcement regarding a Season 4 renewal.
