And the plot thickens. While there were many memorable moments from Sunday night’s (May 5) The Roast of Tom Brady, one that particularly appeared to strike a nerve with the man of the night, Tom Brady, was a joke cracked by Jeff Ross at the expense of the New England Patriots CEO Robert Kraft.

“Tom became a Patriot and moved up to New England, and on the first day of training camp that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft’s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?'” Ross teased.

The quip referred to Kraft being accused of paying for sex at a spa in Jupiter, Florida in 2019, per NBC News.

After blowing a kiss at the maligned CEO and saying, “I love Robert Kraft,” Ross received a warning from Brady, who rose from his seat and went up to him at the mic.

Don’t say that shit again,” Brady said. While Ross appeared on the Rich Eisen Show on Monday (May 6) and claimed that there was “no way” Brady was actually upset by the joke, comedian Andrew Schulz saw it differently.

“When Tom checked Jeff Ross, I think that was 100% real,” Schulz said on Wednesday’s (May 8) installment of his Flagrant podcast, per TMZ. “The reason why I think it’s real is because they told us no jokes about happy endings with Bob Kraft.”

Schulz, who took part in Sunday night’s roast, admitted that he “had a Bob Kraft tag,” but said he was told that “Tom asked us not to do anything with the massage” content.

“I was like, ‘Alright, cool.’ The guy is coming here for this thing, whatever. He’s not getting roasted,” he said. “He’s sitting in the fucking stands.”

He then recalled Brady’s reaction following Ross’ joke.

“This is the first comic that goes on, a live roast, and it’s your night,” he said. “He was ready to shut the whole thing down. That’s an alpha ass move right there.”

Comedian Nikki Glaser, who also took part in the roast, appeared on Thursday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, where she said that it was “never set in stone” that material about Kraft was off limits, but “it was just a vibe that Robert Kraft is kind of like having Tom’s dad there, and it’s just not the person you want to go after.”

She also said she “was surprised when Jeff went there,” describing the incident as “a real moment” between Brady and Ross.

As for material she nixed on Sunday night, Glaser told Jimmy Kimmel that she was “not going to do any jokes related to his kids,” especially any bits about him kissing them on the lips.

The Roast of Tom Brady is streaming on Netflix.
