An all-new episode of FX‘s Shōgun is about to hit fans like — you know what? We don’t need to remember what happened to Toranaga’s son Nagakado (Yuki Kura) at the end of last week’s Shōgun. In fact, all we need to know is when the next episode of Shōgun will premiere on Hulu and FX. Shōgun Episode 8 “Abyss of Life” is premiering soon, but when do new episodes of Shōgun come out? Shōgun is an all-new adaptation of James Clavell’s best-selling 1975 novel of the same name. The epic tale follows John Blackthorne, an intrepid English navigator who finds himself in 1600 Japan. Soon, he enjoys a prime position in the household of daimyo Toranaga, a genius warlord who finds himself edging closer to oblivion with each passing day. Toranaga has found himself on the outs with his former fellow regents and they wish to eliminate him from asserting more political dominance in the land.

As of the end of Shōgun Episode 7 “A Stick of Time,” Toranaga’s position looked rather grim. After losing most of his army in an earthquake, he turned to half-brother Saeki (Eita Okuno) for an alliance. However, Saeki revealed that he was instead taking a seat on the Council of Regents, thereby betraying Toranaga. In revenge, Toranaga’s son Naga attempted to murder his treacherous uncle, only to slip on some wet rocks and die of a head wound.

Note: although new episodes of your favorite shows usually pop up on Hulu the day after they premiere on TV, it’s reversed for Shōgun. Hulu subscribers can watch Shōgun as early as Tuesday morning, while folks who catch the show on FX must wait until primetime Tuesday night.
