Margaret Qualley Will Play Amanda Knox In New Hulu Series Produced By Monica Lewinsky

Amanda Knox‘s riveting life story will be adapted into a limited series at Hulu, with Margaret Qualley attached to star and executive produce.

The untitled series is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free,” according to Variety. The limited series will feature eight one-hour-long episodes.

The series is from This is Us producer KJ Steinberg, who is also attached to write and executive produce.

Knox herself will also serve as an executive producer on the series along with her spouse Chris Robinson through their company Knox Robinson Productions.

But Knox and Qualley aren’t the only celebs attached. Monica Lewinsky will also executive produce, marking the third production credit of her career. She also served as a producer on American Crime Story Season 3, which chronicled Bill Clinton’s impeachment.

Lewinsky hinted at the project back in October during an appearance on Today.

“I wish it were announced already, but I’m executive producing a limited series that’s on another young woman who found her life decimated and ripped apart on the world stage, but she somehow managed to survive,” she said at the time. “I think it’s going to be really powerful.”

Knox has openly shared her side of the story in her 2013 memoir Waiting to be Heard, as well as in the 2016 documentary Amanda Knox. Her life story was also adapted into the Lifetime movie Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy.

Knox made headlines after she was wrongfully incarcerated for four years, along with her boyfriend of one week, in the 2007 rape and murder of her roommate. She had been sentenced to 26 years in prison before she was acquitted, with the country of Italy ordered to pay her $21,000 in damages over 10 years later.

Their acquaintance Rudy Guede was ultimately convicted of the crime, but Knox’s reputation never quite recovered from the media circus that surrounded her roommate’s murder.

A premiere date has not yet been announced for the project.
