Jon Stewart made a hilarious callback in a brand new promotional video for his return to The Daily Show.

Stewart will return to host the popular Comedy Central news commentary series next week and he stopped by the iconic desk to recreate his iconic popcorn-eating GIF.

You know, this one:

As he stuffs the popcorn in his mouth, Stewart asks his producers: “Is this the same popcorn from the GIF nine years ago?!”

He then hilariously continues to eat it, saying it’s not bad after all. You can watch the clip above.

Stewart was by far the most popular host on the Emmy-winning late-night series to date, appearing at the desk from 1999 to 2015. Prior to Stewart, Craig Kilborn assumed the role and Trevor Noah took over after Stewart left.

It was recently announced that Stewart would return as host on Monday nights throughout the 2024 election cycle. For the rest of the week, the show’s correspondents will share hosting duties.

Stewart will also serve as executive producer on every episode through the election cycle and beyond.

After Trevor Noah announced that he was leaving the show, the network began its search for a replacement, but that turned out to be a difficult task. In the interim, numerous comedians and media personalities have stepped in since late 2022 as temporary guest hosts.

Leslie Jones, Wanda Sykes, Chelsea Handler, Sarah Silverman, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, and John Leguizamo all took a turn at hosting the show in 2023.

Longtime correspondent Roy Wood Jr. infamously mouthed, “Please hire a host,” during Noah’s speech at the January 15 Emmys. He departed the series after eight years as a correspondent and also guest-hosted four episodes in April 2023 after Noah departed.

The Daily Show returns with Stewart as host on February 12 (and each Monday thereafter) and will continue to air every weeknight at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and the next day on Paramount+.
