The Traitors Season 2 recently premiered on Peacock, where a cast of celebrities staying in a Scottish castle must fight to “stay alive” when the so-called traitors in the cast turn on their co-stars and “murder” them.

The show stars a whole slew of television personalities, including Phaedra Parks, Larsa Pippen, Marcus Jordan, Tamra Judge and more. In The Traitors, Real Housewives are pitted against Survivor and Big Brother contestants in an outrageous murder mystery scenario.

But there seems to be some confusion as to who is hosting the show.

You may recognize host Alan Cumming from his decades-long career in acting, with memorable performances in Schmigadoon!, The Good Wife, or the Spy Kids movies.

But he is often mistaken for actor Paul Reubens, better known for his iconic role as Pee-Wee Herman. Well, we’re here to set the record straight — no, that’s not Reubens chatting with reality’s finest. Here’s what you need to know about The Traitors host.

No, Pee-wee (Reubens) is not be hosting The Traitors. The late actor passed away in July 2023 at the age of 70. He revealed in a posthumous statement that he had been privately battling cancer for six years prior to his death.

“Please accept my apology for not going public with what I’ve been facing the last six years,” he wrote in the statement, which was shared after his death this summer. “I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you.”

Reubens famously originated Pee-wee Herman in 1980 on The Pee-wee Herman Show, launching a franchise of films centered on the whimsical character.

The charming Traitors host on our screens is actually Cumming, who is doing a stellar job leading the show.

“Honestly, you watch this show for Alan Cumming, who has not had this much cheeky fun on screen since he chewed up the scenery in Eyes Wide Shut,” Decider’s Liz Kocan wrote in her The Traitors review.

Cumming, who has been acting since the ’80s, is well known for his work both onstage and onscreen, and has earned numerous awards over the years, including a BAFTA Award, two Tony Awards and an Olivier Award. Cumming has returned to host The Traitors for Season 2, where he is joined by his furry co-host, his rescue dog Lala.

New episodes of The Traitors drop on Thursdays on Peacock at 9/8c.
