Awards season is kicking into full gear with this morning’s announcement of the nominations for the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24.
The ceremony — which is produced by SAG-AFTRA and Silent House Productions — comes mere months after the dual Hollywood strikes came to end. As the SAG-AFTRA and WGA unions fought for fair contracts, those in the industry were not permitted to work on, celebrate or promote their projects. However, the fanfare quickly resumed once a resolution was reached in the fall of 2023.
So what can you expect from this year’s SAG Awards? Well, Barbra Streisand will be honored with the SAG Life Achievement Award for her career achievements and humanitarian accomplishments, according to a press release from SAG-AFTRA. Plus, we’ll see plenty of industry members get their dues for work on celebrated projects of the past year.
Barbie, Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon unsurprisingly swept up nominations in the film categories, while shows like Succession, The Bear and Ted Lasso were largely recognized in the TV categories.
The SAG Awards will stream Saturday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Netflix.
