Joy Behar certainly isn’t one to keep her thoughts to herself. On this morning’s episode of The View, the longtime co-host grilled Alyssa Farah Griffin on why she thinks she was bullied as a child.

The former White House staffer’s revelation came during a Hot Topics segment about a 12-year-old who doesn’t want to invite her entire class to her party because two of the girls are “boring.” According to Griffin, excluding certain people could have lasting effects — and she would know.

“This happened to me in junior high. Junior high’s the worst,” she said. “I was the only girl not invited to the sleepover, and then they toilet-papered my house and my mom took down all the toilet paper and left it on the other mom’s doorstep.”

After Behar asked why the other kids were mean to her, Griffin admitted she was the “odd girl out.” However, this wasn’t a good enough answer for the comedian.

“What was odd about you?” she pressed. “I mean, I used to wear Bermuda shorts. When I was a kid, I wore Bermuda shorts … So they picked on me. What was the reason they picked on you?”

While Griffin wasn’t sure why she was bullied, she said she’s “in therapy to this day” because she’s “still traumatized 20 years later.” Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg speculated that it was because of her big ears, which she previously revealed as an insecurity of hers.

“They’re just on the bigger side,” Griffin said in a January episode of The View. “They’ve bothered me my whole life … My dad actually offered to get them fixed, which he was trying to be kind in doing that. But that actually stuck with me more — that he was acknowledging it as an imperfection — which was not his intent.”

Like today, Behar had a hard time containing herself upon Griffin’s confession.

“You don’t want your child to go through life with Dumbo ears, I’m sorry,” she told her co-host. “It’s not a bad operation. I know somebody who had it.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
