Alyssa Farah Griffin for President of the United States? Rachel Maddow seemed to think she would be a better Republican option than Donald Trump on this morning’s episode of The View.

While chatting with the ladies about all things politics, Maddow offered her thoughts on the debacle surrounding the House of Representatives — and the GOP’s struggle to find a new speaker after ousting Kevin McCarthy.

“Even if you can fast forward to the end of this process — whenever it ends with whoever wins — what does that person win? The worst job in America,” she said. “They get to hold it for five minutes and then get fired and then we start again. I mean, there’s nothing to look forward to for anybody here. It is a sad thing.”

According to Maddow, it would be “a big deal” for the country “in all the wrong ways” if Rep. Jim Jordan became the House Speaker.

“There was nobody who was more important in Congress to Trump’s effort to overthrow the lawfully elected government of the United States than Jim Jordan,” she said. “Then to make him second in line to the presidency? And in charge of Congress certifying the election results in 2024?”

Maddow added that she hopes Republicans will take a “more moderate” direction, while Joy Behar asked if there was anyone else the party could “put up for the next election” besides Trump, who she called a “criminal.”

“Are you busy?” Maddow cheekily asked a shocked Griffin, who was shaking her head. “You wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t wish it on you, I suppose.”

When they returned to the conversation, Maddow expressed mutual concern over what might happen if Trump were to win the 2024 election.

“He’s basically portraying a future for America if he’s put back in the White House in which we don’t have another election after that. Ever,” she said. “Because the elections are all rigged, that the democratic process can’t be trusted, that Congress should just work for him, the Justice Department should just work for him. That’s a strong man form of government. That’s not what we have.”

Well, Alyssa, it’s never too late to join the race!
