Created by David Jenkins, Our Flag Means Death returns to Max for a jolly (roger) good time! The period romantic comedy — starring Taika Waititi and Rhys Darby — premiered its second season on October 5, 2023, but as only three episodes of the season hit the platform on that date, many are wondering what’s to come.

The show is set in the 18th century and follows wannabe pirate Stede Bonne (Darby) and his crew on their quest for fame, which brings them face-to-face with famous pirate captain Blackbeard (Waititi). The new season picks up right where the first left off and sees Stede and Blackbeard navigating their new “more than friendship” relationship.

In addition to Darby and Waititi, the ensemble cast features Samson Kayo, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill, David Fane, Nat Faxon, and Leslie Jones. The new season sees the addition of several new actors, including Minnie Driver and Bronson Pinchot.
