On Wednesday night’s (Oct. 4) “NFL Night” episode of The Masked Singer, judge Ken Jeong was certainly moved by the music of one particular contestant, whom he believed to be a former co-star and “dear friend” of his.

The Gazelle — whose emotional hints included that they “didn’t know if there was a place for [them] in the entertainment industry” and that “at just 8 years old, [they were] pressured to change [their] name to blend in more with the herd” — noted that “fortunately, the world is changing and there are more opportunities everyday.”

“I’m proud of my heritage and proud to continue to blaze a trail for little girls who look like me,” they said.

Following The Gazelle’s beautiful rendition of Katy Perry‘s “The One That Got Away,” the judges chimed in with immense praise, including Jenny McCarthy, who exclaimed, “I can’t believe I don’t know who you, are because I feel like you should be one of the biggest singers of all time!”

In light of “NFL Night,” former LA Chargers tight end Antonio Gates brought out a clue in the form of a football with the word “Villain,” which sparked some ideas.

McCarthy guessed Leighton Meester, with her her iconic role of Gossip Girl‘s Blair Waldorf in mind. Host Nick Cannon then motioned to Jeong to share his thoughts.

“Okay, real talk,” Jeong began. “You don’t hear me talk like this a lot, but I never get so moved by an actual voice. I don’t have the ear that [fellow judges] Robin [Thicke] and Nicole [Scherzinger] have, and I might be wrong, but this sounds like someone who I genuinely love who is a dear friend of mine.”

He revealed that he believed this friend to be Constance Wu, whom he worked with on Crazy Rich Asians and three episodes of Fresh Off The Boat, per GoldDerby.com.

“And even if it’s not you, I just want you know I’m thinking about Wu,” he added.

“I love you, Ken!” the Gazelle said, to which Jeong replied, “I love you, Gazelle.”

Scherzinger, who was tasked with voicing her guess after Jeong’s touching tribute to Wu, asked, “How am I gonna follow that?”

She ultimately guessed Auli’i Cravalho — the star of Moana — or Wu, as well.

The Gazelle ultimately moved onto the next round, along with fellow contestants Cow, S’More and Pickle, and was not unmasked last night. That means fans and Jeong have to hold out a little longer to learn if it was really Wu under the mask.

The Masked Singer airs new episodes on Wednesdays at 8/7c on FOX.
