Travis Kelce Addresses The NFL’s Coverage Of Rumored Girlfriend Taylor Swift: “I Think They’re Overdoing It”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are still making headlines after the pop star attended the Chiefs-Jets game this week with an impressive posse of celebs. But, the Chiefs tight-end admits, the NFL may have overdone their coverage a little bit during Sunday’s (Oct. 1) game.

“I think it’s fun when they show who all is at the game,” Travis said on a new episode of New Heights, the podcast he hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. “I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching.”

He continued, “But at the same time, I think they’re overdoing it a little bit for sure. Especially my situation.”

The Kelce brothers humorously addressed the “situation” and did not appear upset by the extra attention the Swift dating rumors were getting them.

“I think they’re just trying to have fun with it,” Travis said.

Jason appeared to agree, adding, “the NFL is not used to celebrities coming to the games.”

The professional footballers also thanked the singer for finally putting them “on the map.”

“We are officially on the map. Both Travis and I have officially been put on the map,” Jason joked, referring to the now-viral joke that no one knew who the Kelce brothers were until the dating rumors took off. Jason later noted that they saw a “boost in viewership” thanks to the new attention Swifties have brought the brothers. “We appreciate you guys tuning in.”

Sunday’s Chiefs-Jets game was the most-watched Sunday NFL game since the Super Bowl. The broadcast peaked at 29 million viewers, and saw a spike in female viewership from the season average.

Rumors swirled for days that Swift would be attending Sunday’s game. If you haven’t seen the headlines yet, she did in fact attend, and brought a whole posse of celebrity friends with her. Swift was accompanied by Sophie Turner, Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, and Reynolds’ Deadpool 3 co-star, Hugh Jackman.

In fact, Reynolds and Jackman’s appearance at the game reignited speculation that Swift may be making an appearance as Dazzler in the new Deadpool. Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy was also in attendance.

While it remains to be seen if this is indeed a publicity stunt, the Traylor rumors at least make for good television.
