The Exorcist: Believer had the “single best” premiere date set for Friday the 13th this coming October. That is, until Taylor Swift announced her record-breaking Eras Tour concert movie.

Producer Jason Blum referred to the dual premiere as #Exorswift on Twitter after learning the news, hoping that it could pick up the same traction as Barbenheimer did this summer. But keeping the same premiere date as Swift proved to be “too risky” for the Exorcist reboot.

“We had this amazing Friday the 13th in October, which is the single best day to release a scary movie,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Obviously, we moved off that and we bowed our head to Taylor Swift.”

He later admitted, “It was too risky to see if ‘Exorswift’ was going to take or not.”

Now, The Exorcist: Believer is set to premiere a bit earlier than planned, landing in theaters on Oct. 6.

Blum shared the news just hours after Swift announced her concert movie. “Look what you made me do,” he wrote on X, referring to Swift’s popular single. “The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23. #TaylorWins”

The established horror producer joked about making the change to EW, saying, “The one thing that scares me to death is Taylor Swift!”

Swifties caused the AMC app to crash in their rush to purchase tickets to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. The first day of sales garnered $26 million, breaking the record that Spider-Man: No Way Home held at $16.9 million.

AMC also went to great lengths to ensure they could meet the Swifties’ demands. In a press release ahead of the sale, the theater chain announced it bolstered its servers ahead of the sale. Tickets to The Eras Tour are also available at a lower price point than standard tickets.

Actress Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil in The Exorcist: Believer. The reboot of the classic horror film returns to the evil entity that terrorized MacNeil and her family in 1973, but now it’s inhabiting two young friends.

Deadline reports The Exorcist: Believer could be looking at a $30 million opening weekend. As for Swift? We have a feeling she’ll be raking in even more, if the Eras Tour and the ticket sales are any indication.
