A new generation of Spy Kids is busting into the scene. More than a decade after the long-running franchise’s last movie, Netflix has finally released a first-look trailer at Spy Kids: Armageddon, which will drop on the streaming platform Sept. 22.

In the trailer, up-and-coming stars Connor Esterson and Everly Carganilla play Tony and Patty — the children of “the world’s greatest secret agents.” Meanwhile, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez and Shazam! actor Zachary Levi play their super-spy parents.

Like the original movie released in 2001, the sibling duo is tasked with finding their parents, stopping the bad guys and saving the world after a hologram of Gina tells them that “something’s gone terribly wrong.” What ensues is an action-packed adventure filled with spy planes, signature black jumpsuits and dark glasses, and what appears to be an upgraded version of R.A.L.P.H.

“When the children of the world’s greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful Game Developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology, they must become spies themselves to save their parents and the world,” the movie’s logline reads.

Robert Rodriguez, who wrote and directed the first four Spy Kids movies, returned to co-write the reboot with his son, Racer Max. The original three films, which were released between 2001 and 2003, follow siblings Carmen Cortez (Alexa PenaVega) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara) — the children of ex-spies Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino — as they embark on James Bond-esque adventures.

“We have a really fun new cast, Gina Rodriguez and Zachary Levi are so wonderful together, and our new Spy Kids Connor and Everly are simply magical,” Robert said of the new movie, per People. “They are super talented, and very fun to watch.”

While the reboot stands alone from its predecessors, the director told Netflix’s Tudum that there “will be Easter eggs” referring to the originals.

Spy Kids: Armageddon will come to Netflix on Sept. 22.
