A 16th V.C. Andrews novel just got the Lifetime treatment.
Dawn, the limited series that adapts the Cutler series, premiered on July 8, and will air one episode every Saturday for four weeks.
As was the case with Flowers in the Attic, Ruby, Heaven, and the other Lifetime adaptations, the series is a gothic horror story crossed with a family drama.
Dawn Longchamp has a quiet upbringing with a humble and devoted family, but after discovering a shocking truth about the people who raised her, she is thrust into a new dark and twisted family whose secrets change the course of her life forever.
Brec Bassinger stars as the titular Dawn, with Jesse Metcalfe, Khobe Clarke, Fran Drescher, Joey McIntyre, and Donna Mills rounding out the cast.
Is Dawn Based On A Book?
Yes! As mentioned above, the limited series Dawn is based on the V.C. Andrews novel of the same name.
Dawn is the first book in the Cutler series, started by Andrews and finished by Andrew Neiderman (using Andrews’ name) following the author’s death. The other four books are Secrets of the Morning, Twilight’s Child, Midnight Whispers, and Darkest Hour.
Darkest Hour is the only novel not included in the series adaptation, which features one episode for each of the first four books.
