Details surrounding Jamie Foxx‘s recent hospitalization remain scarce, and despite plenty of speculation about what his mystery ailment actually was, neither Foxx nor his friends or family are revealing much.

Foxx’s friend Nick Cannon, who took over as host of the game show Beat Shazam this season as a result of Foxx’s health scare, says that Foxx is “extremely professional and extremely private,” and said that “when he’s ready, he’s going to address the awaiting fans in the world in the way that only he can,” per Extra.

Extra host Billy Bush asked Cannon, “We understand that he had a stroke and that he’s recovering. But, you know, it’s been sort of confusing… are you comfortable giving an update on how he’s doing?”but Cannon would not confirm or deny the details of Foxx’s health, saying, “As a friend, just being as respectful as I can, I don’t pry. I don’t ask any other questions.”

Cannon also added, “The information that is out there is the information that they want to be out there… I was definitely one of those people initially with like the heavy-handed prayers… sending positive energy, love, and prayers. And they were like, ‘Yo, we appreciate all of that, but we got it.’ And, you know, Jamie’s happy with the job that I did on Beat Shazam, and when he’s ready, he’s going to address the awaiting fans in the world in the way that only he can.”

Foxx has been recovering from his ailment at home, where he’s been playing pickleball and preparing for a new musical competition show called We Are Family, which he’ll co-host with daughter Corinne.
