Vanna White Will Compete on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ for First Time Ever After 40+ Years of Revealing Letters

Vanna White will be standing behind the podium for the very first time in a special May episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

ABC announced Monday that the Wheel of Fortune co-host will be facing off against Jeopardy! co-hosts Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik for Ultimate Host Night, in which the contestants will compete for charity.

White has been a staple on Wheel of Fortune since 1982, but now she will be “calling letters instead of revealing them” for the first time on the show. This episode will be an all-star special of sorts as the three co-hosts face off for the $1 million prize.

Jennings earned his hosting gig after he won over $4.5 million on Jeopardy and even became known as the Greatest of All Time after earning the title for the first time ever on the show. White, on the other hand, has decades of experience with the show’s style of puzzles, giving her a “home court advantage,” as the New York Post notes.

This will be Bialik’s first time competing on a game show. But let’s not count her out too early – not only has she been a regular host on Jeopardy since 2021, but the Big Bang Theory actress also has a doctorate in neuroscience.

White will be competing on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, while Bialik will be competing for Mental Wealth Alliance and Jennings for the Equal Justice Initiative.

The Ultimate Host Night episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune will air on Wednesday, May 10, before ABC’s premiere of The Game Show Show.

This four-part series will chronicle 80 years of game shows in America, featuring interviews from Michael Strahan, Howie Mandel, Jay Leno and more. The documentary special will explore how game shows changed with American society and innovation.

That evening will also include a new episode of Jeopardy! Masters. Hosted by Jennings, the new game show format will pit the six highest-ranked Jeopardy contestants against each other.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune Ultimate Host Night will premiere at 9 p.m. ET on May 10.
