ABC Execs Pull Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Off The Air In Wake of ‘GMA’ Cheating Scandal

Good Morning America co-hosts T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach have been allegedly pulled off the air following their cheating scandal, which broke loose last week.

Per TMZ, Kim Godwin, President of ABC News, called the relationship an “internal and external distraction” during a call with executives in which she said, “I want to say that while that relationship is not a violation of company policy, I have really taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization.”

She added, “This is something I’m not going to talk, we’re not going to talk about on this call until there is more to be said. I’m asking that we stop the whispering in the hallways. You know, we can’t operate with gossip, and speculation and rumors. We need to stay focused on the work.”

During the call, TMZ reports that Godwin encouraged colleagues to come forth with more information about Holmes and Robach’s relationship, telling them, “If you think there is something that management needs to know, you can always call HR or, as we’ve said, talk to a manager that you trust. If you think there is something that we need to know.”

The Daily Mail exposed the alleged affair on Nov. 30, publishing photos of Holmes and Robach canoodling in various locations over the past few weeks, including at a New York City bar and at a cottage in Upstate New York. Upon the revelation, the outlet claimed that Godwin knew of the relationship, but she is now stating otherwise.

Congruently, Page Six reported that Holmes and Robach went through “extreme lengths” to hide their affair. At the time of reporting, Decider reached out to Good Morning America for comment, but did not hear back.

Holmes and Robach married their respective partners in 2010 and have been long-time friends, often teaming together for promotional posts on the show’s social media. They recently trained for the New York City marathon together. After their relationship was exposed, both parties deleted their personal social media accounts and Robach was missing from the Nov. 30 broadcast. The following day, both hosts co-anchored the talk show without addressing the controversy, much to the dismay of fans.

Page Six reported that the co-hosts left their respective spouses following the alleged affair, which reportedly began in March, while The Daily Mail alleges they struck up their romance in June.

Moving forward, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez are said to replace the two, starting today, while the next steps are to be further sorted out by ABC executives.

Holmes and Robach have co-hosted the network’s lunchtime program, GMA3, alongside Dr. Jennifer Ashton since September 2020.

Decider has reached out to ABC to confirm Holmes and Robach’s suspension from GMA3, but did not hear back by time of publication.
