When Are ‘Logan’ And ‘Deadpool’ Coming To Disney Plus?

Disney+ appears to be ditching its kid-friendly reputation with the addition of three new titles that certainly wouldn’t be at home in a family movie night. Deadpool and Deadpool 2, plus Logan — all bloody, R-rated titles — are joining the Disney+ library on July 22, 2022, the streamer announced in a press release today.

The three additions mark the first R-rated films to stream on Disney+, which is home to plenty of Pixar fare, as well as classic Disney films and shows, and is generally regarded the most kid-centric of the streamers … although it sounds like that’s about to change.

Disney+ is not entirely unaware of the potential chaos some R-rated material could wreak on their platform. In today’s release, the streamer noted, “With the addition of these new titles, subscribers are invited to revisit their parental controls settings to ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family.”

Deadpool, Deadpool 2 and Logan are coming to Disney+ as part of the streamer’s Marvel offerings. With their arrival, the platform will bolster its MCU selection, which already includes Marvel series like WandaVision and Loki, plus films like Black Widow and Eternals.

Disney+’s Deadpool and Logan announcement may seem surprising, but shouldn’t come as too much of a shock after the recent addition of other more adult Marvel titles like Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage. The streamer has been slowly loosening its strict streaming protocols this year; Disney+ embraced Love, Victor, a show they booted to Hulu over its themes of sexuality and alcohol use, for its third and final season, which debuted on both Hulu and Disney+.

While Disney+ is slowly expanding its library to include more mature titles, parents can still pare down the streamer’s offerings to suit their own family’s needs. Disney+ offers parental controls, which allow users to set content ratings on individual profiles that filter out anything above your chosen rating. Just don’t forget to switch them off when you want to enjoy the gritty stuff!
