Rhea Seehorn Finally Snags a Long-Awaited Emmy Nomination for ‘Better Call Saul’

I think I can speak for Better Call Saul fans everywhere when I say I’d like to thank The Academy for — finally, at long last, after nearly six full seasons of the series nominating the remarkable Rhea Seehorn for an Emmy.

While Seehorn’s co-stars, including Bob Odenkirk, Giancarlo Esposito, and Jonathan Banks have all been nominated for Emmys over the years, the actress — who plays our low pony queen Kim Wexler — stayed snubbed. Until now, that is. The 2022 Emmy nominees were announced on July 12, and Seehorn finally snagged one for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Time to hit the mall and buy some celebratory Cinnabons!

Since the phenomenal Breaking Bad prequel premiered in 2015, Seehorn has gone on to make Kim Wexler one of the most compelling and beloved characters in “The Gilliverse.” She brings unwavering levels of emotional complexity and a fierce authenticity to the role of lawyer/Jimmy McGill’s better half. And in the sixth and final season of the show, she’s taken Kim on a taxing, terrifying journey of self-discovery and self-destruction. Her performance is truly sensational, which is why fans are filled with rage and confusion each year Seehorn is overlooked. But now? We celebrate.

After the nominees were announced, fans — including Odenkirk — were quick to applaud Seehorn’s achievement on social media. Odenkirk wrote, “Hard to express how thrilled and please I am that Rhea has been nominated. It’s the capper on a great morning. Thanks everyone for the good vibes this whole year.”

We’re still not sure what Better Call Saul‘s final episodes have in store, but hopefully the future holds a well-deserved Emmy for Seehorn.

In addition to Seehorn, the Better Call Saul cast received several other Emmy nominations, and the show was honored in the Outstanding Lead Drama category.
