Wireless gaming headsets can be super tricky. If they’re comfortable, the battery life is probably lacking, or perhaps the audio isn’t as great as you were hoping. And, if this is the case, odds are you’ve settled for a wireless headset that you like but you’re not head over heels for.

The HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless Gaming Headset actually ticks all the boxes for someone that wants a wireless headset, long battery life, bilateral audio, and most importantly, comfort while gaming or streaming for long periods of time. Read on to find out why you should pick this headset up.

Price and Availability: The HyperX is available at Amazon for $199.99. You can also snag it at Best Buy for the same price.

Why We Chose It: We’re a sucker for a snazzy design, and the fancy red and black design built with an aluminum frame makes for sturdy and stylish wear. Additionally, while in general, we use leatherette pads for our ears, which are super comfortable, you can also swap out for mesh padding if you want a cooler feel to your ears.

The red and black glamor aside, this headset is perfect for your audio needs. 50-millimeter drivers work in each ear to bring you the best sound quality. The dual chamber drivers will deliver all sound, devoting special attention to tuning trebles and mids for a more balanced sound, or a customizable experience, depending on your preference.

Similarly to other competitors on the market, you can expect that signature DTS Spatial Audio to bring a more immersive experience. In other words, you’ll actually feel like you’re immersed in the scene, be it watching Netflix on your PC or be it exploring space in that massive No Man’s Sky: Outlaws update that just dropped two days ago (and is the second of two massive 2022 updates).

And, of course, that microphone will work with Discord and TeamSpeak and is certified by HyperX to do so. But, more importantly, if you’re in-game and need to pause to chat with someone about dinner or another matter, the microphone comes with an LED indicator to let you know whether you’re muted.

It’s not all about the audio though–especially since these are wireless headphones. There is nothing worse than being in-game and your surround sound audio vanishing because of a dead battery, coming from personal experience. With the HyperX Gaming Headphones, they come packed with up to 300 hours of battery life, so you’ll be able to marathon game and binge your favorite shows without worrying about a dead battery life. The only issue I have with the headset was that it took a little over four hours to charge, but all you need to realistically do is time the charge just right so that it’s not in-use when you’re charging.

The headphones will connect to any 2.4GHz network, so you can hook it up to your tablet, phone, gaming PC, or console for hours of listening or gaming.

What Others Are Saying: Forbes loved the battery life on this particular headset. “When you turn the headset on, a voice tells you ‘Headset on, battery level is XYZ.’ Well, since the very first time I turned mine on the battery level has been at 80%. I keep waiting for the voice to tell me that it’s dropped to 79% but it remains stubbornly lodged at 80, no matter how much I use it. Apparently you can get over 300 hours on a single charge. I haven’t used it for 300 hours but given my usage, this comes as no surprise.”

PCMag felt it was one of the best for PC gamers but acknowledged its limitations for Playstation 4/5 consoles. “If the PC is your main gaming platform, this headset is for you. The Cloud Alpha Wireless also works with PlayStation 4/5, but several of its audio features aren’t compatible with those consoles, and it lacks a 3.5mm connection as a wired backup for broader compatibility.”

Our Conclusion: The HyperX Cloud Atlas Wireless Gaming Headset is a must-have for PC gamers. The dual chamber audio is a truly immersive experience, and it’s hard to compete with that massive battery life which is designed to keep you going for long periods of time.
