Move over, Dunkelman, because there’s a new boy vying for the heart of the tallest girl in school in Netflix’s Tall Girl 2.
The Tall Girl sequel, which was released on Netflix on Friday, finds Jodi Kreyman (played by star Ava Michelle) in an entirely new mindset. After she finally stood up to her bullies, who mocked her for being so very tall, Jodi is now one of the most popular girls in school. To top it off, she has a boyfriend who adores her, Jack Dunkleman (played by Griffin Gluck), and she just landed the lead role in her school’s production of Bye Bye Birdie. Unfortunately for Dunkleman, that means his girlfriend is going to be spending a lot of hours with a hunky theater boy named Tommy.
The first thing Tommy does, when he lays eyes on Jodi, is quote her homecoming speech back to her—which, as any writer can tell you, is a fairly quick way to make a girl fall for you. Whether or not Jodi realizes it, the sparks are starting to fly, and it only gets more intense after (spoiler alert!) Jodi and Dunkleman break up. So who is exactly is this hunky new guy vying for Jodi’s heart?
Who is Jan Luis Castellanos, the actor who plays Tommy in Tall Girl 2?
He may be playing a high school in the movies but in real life, Jan Luis Castellanos is a 26-year-old actor. Originally born in the Dominican Republic, Castellanos moved to New Jersey with family when he was a young boy. You may recognize Castellanos as Diego Torres from the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, as Mikey from the Epix series Bridge and Tunnel, or as Topher from Season 2 of Hulu’s The Runaways.
Coming up, Castellanos will be seen as Croy in the film adaptation of the Scott Westerfeld novel, Uglies, where he will star alongside Joey King and Chase Stokes. You can also follow what he’s up to right now via Castellanos’s Instagram account.
