Tim McGraw, Sam Elliott & Faith Hill Take On The Wild West in Trailer For ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel ‘1883’

Get ready for the Yellowstone universe as you’ve never seen it before. Today, Paramount+ released the official trailer for the prequel series 1883, starring Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill. Paramount Network will host a special simulcast premiere event for 1883 on Sunday, December 19, following the latest episode of Yellowstone.

As its name would suggest, 1883 takes place in the late 19th century, revealing how Yellowstone‘s central Dutton family acquired the largest ranch in Montana. The new drama follows the Duttons as they travel west through the Great Plains, resulting in both a retelling of Western expansion and a character study of a family fleeing poverty in search of a better life.

Real-life couple McGraw and Hill star as country couple Margaret and James Dutton, while Elliott plays cowboy Shea Brennan.

“My family’s meeting me here tonight and we’re heating north, and we’ll keep heading north till I find a country that’s worth the journey,” James says in the trailer.

But Shea issues a warning: “This journey will be dangerous all the way to Oregon.”

1883 also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May, and LaMonica Garrett, Dawn Olivieri, Emma Malouff, Alex Fine, Gratiela Brancusi, Anna Fiamora, Nichole Galicia, Stephanie Nur, Amanda Jaros, Noah Le Gros, and Martin Sensmeier.

The series is created by Taylor Sheridan, who also helms Yellowstone. 1883 marks Sheridan’s second series released by Paramount+ following the flagship series’ success (the other Paramount+ series is Mayor of Kingstown).

1883 premieres December 19 on Paramount+. Scroll up to watch the official trailer.
