What Is Narcos: Mexico Season 3 About? Who Was Amado Carrillo Fuentes?
Before we can get into Amado’s story, we need to talk about the ending of Narcos: Mexico Season 2. The Mexican-centered spinoff of this crime drama followed the rise and fall of Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna). Gallardo’s big claim to fame was uniting the previous separated cartels of this country: Guadalajara, Tijuana, Sinaloa, and Juárez. Working together meant more money and power for everyone. But those alliances only lasted as long as Gallardo was there to herd these cats.
Enter Season 3. With Gallardo imprisoned, it’s every cartel for itself. That was the state of the world when the real Amado Carrillo Fuentes murdered his associates and took over the Juárez Cartel. It’s been estimated that over the course of his career, Fuentes made over $25 billion, making him one of the most powerful and wealthiest drug lords in Mexican history. If there was ever a way to end this saga, this is it.
