Kanye West Is Reportedly Giving Kim Kardashian Advice About Hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’

Kim Kardashian is reportedly turning to her estranged husband, Kanye West, for advice about hosting the next episode of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 9. An anonymous source told Page Six that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has been chatting with West about how to tackle the NBC comedy series.

“Kim is nervous about hosting SNL,” the source reportedly said. “It’s a big challenge, but she is determined to be a success.”

They continued: “Kanye is quietly advising her on her performance, her opening monologue, even her costumes for the show.”

Kardashian and West officially announced their separation in February 2021, after nearly seven years of marriage.

West himself has a complicated past with the NBC sketch show, on which he has appeared as a performer multiple times. In 2016, audio of him having a behind-the-scenes meltdown over his stage getting removed from SNL leaked before he performed in an episode. Then in 2018, he delivered a surprise speech in support of then-President Donald Trump, which did not make it to air and received boos from cast members, the audience, and host Adam Driver.

The Oct. 9 episode (with musical guest Halsey) will mark Kardashian’s first time on the show, although former SNL cast member Nasim Pedrad previously played her in several sketches.

“OMFG no turning back now!!!!” Kardashian tweeted when the hosting news was announced on Sept. 22. “LOL I’m hosting SNL!!!!!! @nbcsnl.”

While Will & Grace star Debra Messing previously took to Twitter to question why Kardashian got the hosting gig, SNL stars Heidi Gardner and Ego Nwodim recently spoke to Entertainment Online in order to “throw a little sunlight” on Kardashian’s upcoming appearance.

“I think it’ll be fun,” Ego said. “It’s always nice on the show to have a host that people don’t expect necessarily to be in that space or be able to do sketch comedy. It’s fun for us to make all the hosts look as good as possible and as seasoned as possible.”
