Anything really is possible in the multiverse of Rick and Morty. Today Adult Swim dropped its first ever live-action ode to its most popular show. And none other than Doc Brown himself, Christopher Lloyd, and It star Jaeden Martell emerged as our Rick and Morty.

Titled “C-132,” the video is simple. It shows a sparse garage as music plays. Suddenly, a green portal appears and a leg wearing brown pants and black loafers comes out of it. That’s when the pan up happens in all its greatness, showing the man who played Doc Brown as Rick. They even got Christopher Lloyd to burp. Take that, fans complaining that Rick hasn’t been burping enough.

Lloyd even tweeted out the video and had the perfect reaction:

There’s really no such thing as perfection, but this is pretty close. Rick and Morty first started as a series of shorts for Dan Harmon and Rob Schraub’s Channel 101 film competition, titled The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti. This Back to the Future parody was relentlessly silly and aggressively R-rated, showing Doc using time travel to help Mharti retrieve his kite from a tree and tricking his younger pal into giving him oral sex. The humor was refined a bit, Rick and Morty became a grandfather and grandson duo, a big dollop of nihilism was added, and history was made. So of course Christopher Lloyd was chosen as our real-life, dimension C-132 Rick. He was the only choice possible.

But Jaeden Martell’s casting as Morty is equally on point. Martell’s most recognizable role to date has been as prepubescent boy navigating that hell that is his changing body and actual demons. That’s the plot of It, and that’s basically what Morty has to deal with on a daily basis. Martell has also starred in the comedy-drama St. Vincent as Oliver, the beloved mystery movie Knives Out as Jacob Thrombey, and as the titular Jacob in Apple TV+’s Defending Jacob.

If you were hoping that this will be the beginning of a movie, chances are slim. Adult Swim’s short didn’t come with a date announcement or any additional information. Also, the network has a history of creating truly out-there promotional stunts for Rick and Morty. The show has an entire claymation miniseries, titled The Non-Canonical Adventures of Rick and Morty, and, as we’ve covered before, it has a three-part anime series directed by Takashi Sano. Wild creative swings for no reason are half of Rick and Morty‘s game, especially when a big event is on the horizon like this Sunday’s Season 5 finale. But when it comes to this universe, there’s always hope. After all, Rick and Morty already made it to the big screen once in Space Jam: A New Legacy. They have the clout to make it happen again.
