Finally. Black Widow is here and it’s spectacular. The first Marvel tentpole movie to be released since COVID began, Scarlett Johansson kicks supreme ass as the titular superhero, also known as Natasha Romanoff, and simultaneously rocks the house as the first woman to headline a huge summer Marvel flick. Even better, we are treated to a plethora of formidable actresses assisting in said ass kicking, including Florence Pugh and Rachel Weisz.

Though it will premiere in theaters on July 9, you’ll also be able to watch it at home. Like most Marvel content, it’s on Disney+. But, there’s a catch: It’s not free. So, in order to watch Black Widow, you’ll have to upgrade to an extra cost on Disney Plus Premier Access. Here’s what you need to know.

How to watch Black Widow

Black Widow will be available to purchase for $29.99 on Disney+ beginning Friday, July 9. You can buy the film by going to the Disney landing page on your browser or the Disney+ app. You’ll also need a Disney+ subscription to purchase the film.

How much will Black Widow cost?

Black Widow costs $29.99 to buy on Disney+, but you must be a current subscriber to Disney+ before you can buy the film—and that is $7.99/month. That’s approximately $38 to watch Black Widow. The good news is that once you purchase the film, it’s free to stream and watch whenever you want for as long as you stay a Disney+ subscriber.

What is Disney Plus Premier Access?

“Disney Plus Premier Access” is the name for all the Disney+ premium video-on-demand releases, first used for the release of Mulan in September and subsequently for Raya and the Last Dragon as well as Cruella. However, based on the release of Mulan—which is now available to rent on Amazon, iTunes, and more—you will also eventually be able to rent Black Widow on other digital platforms.

What time will Black Widow be on Disney Plus?

New titles are typically added to Disney+ at 3AM ET, or 12AM PT. If it’s midnight on the west coast on Thursday night and you still don’t see Black Widow on Disney+, try refreshing the page or logging out and logging back in again. Because this is Disney+ Premier Access, it may take longer to load.

When will Black Widow be on Disney Plus for free?

Disney has not yet announced when Black Widow will be free on Disney+. However, we can guess the film will be free of charge in early October 2021 based on the release of Mulan (2020), which you could stream free on Disney+ exactly three months after it premiered on Disney+ Premier Access on September 4.
