Is Behind Her Eyes Season 2 Happening?
At the moment it’s too early to say. Typically it takes Netflix a few weeks to renew a series. Since Behind Her Eyes premiered yesterday, February 17, it’s too early to say if the streaming giant wants more. But if we were a betting site we would say this is a one and done deal.
Behind Her Eyes is based on a novel of the same name by Sarah Pinborough. The Netflix series ended the same way the novel ended. Because of that, it seems unlikely that Netflix would renew the series for another season.
How Did Behind Her Eyes End?
With a truly insane twist. Most of Behind Her Eyes revolved around Louise’s (Simona Brown) evolving relationship with her boss David (Tom Bateman). Well, it turns out that David wasn’t just married. He was married to a woman being possessed by his stalker.
We’ll keep this short. But if you want a longer explanation, we have that too. Long before David was sleeping with Louise, he and his wife Adele (Eve Hewson) were hanging out with a guy named Rob (Robert Aramayo). The three of them seemed like the best of friends but that was a lie. In truth Rob was always in love with David and was enviously looking into David and Adele’s marriage.
Somehow Rob figured out how to switch bodies with other people. You better believe that he used this newfound superpower to switch bodies with Adele and pretend he was married to his obsessive love, David. But Rob didn’t stop there. He murdered his own body while he was in Adele, thereby trapping his consciousness in Adele’s body. That’s who Louise was dealing with the whole time she was getting to know David’s wife: Rob, not Adele.
In the final episodes of Behind Her Eyes, Louise switched bodies with the person she thinks is Adele but who is secretly Rob. You know what happens next. Rob as Louise murdered Louise and Adele. Long story short, Adele is dead, Louise is trapped inside her own body, and Rob is once again married to the man he’s obsessed with, David.
What Could Happen in Behind Her Eyes Season 2?
There are really only a couple directions a new season of Behind Her Eyes can take. If the series wanted to overthrow its premise, a second installment could revolve on David figuring out Rob’s deception. That would absolutely be creepy.
Then there’s the You angle. You was another Netflix thriller that could have easily stood as a self-contained one-season drama. But as the series evolved its second season revolved on its antihero Joe (Penn Badgley) targeting another victim, er, love interest. Behind Her Eyes can take the same approach but with Rob killing off new love interest after new love interest. No matter what, this series will always be wild.
