The Real Housewives are finally returning to South Beach. NBCUniversal has announced that Peacock is developing The Real Housewives of Miami, a new, Florida-set installment of the beloved franchise. Andy Cohen, mastermind of all things Bravo, will executive produce the new series, and Purveyors of Pop will produce with Matt Anderson, Nate Green, and Cooper Green serving as executive producers.
The Real Housewives of Miami will headline Peacock’s upcoming reality TV slate alongside Ex Rated, another Andy Cohen project. According to Peacock, Ex Rated, which has received a series pick-up, “explores the growing trend of adult singles who send standardized ‘exit surveys’ to all of their previous romantic partners — from long-term relationships to casual hook-ups — to learn why their relationships never materialized or simply didn’t last.”
Described as a “social experiment,” Ex Rated will offer a group of singles of all ages and backgrounds a chance to improve upon their flaws in order to build successful relationships in the future. After receiving “raw, unfiltered feedback on everything from their personality to sexual prowess and relationship skills,” viewers will follow the singles as they work to better themselves, both in and out of the bedroom.
Ex Rated is created and developed by BBC Studios’ Los Angeles production arm and Mighty Productions (UK) and produced by BBC Studios. Eric Pankowski (It’s Not You, It’s Men; Carpool Karaoke) will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Ryan O’Dowd will executive produce for BBC Studios, and Lynn Sutcliffe and Hugh Rycoft will executive produce for Mighty Productions. Cohen has been tapped to host the unscripted series and will also serve as an executive producer.
In addition, Peacock has ordered six-part docuseries John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise, the service’s first unscripted and true crime venture, which will debut on Thursday, March 25. The recently-launched platform will also preview the 2021 Tokyo Olympics with Michael Phelps: Medals, Memories & More, a three-part retrospective from NBC Sports.
On the scripted front, Peacock is beefing up its comedy library with an untitled Craig Robinson project and ensemble comedy Bust Down. The latter hails from SNL‘s Lorne Michael and stars Chris Redd, Sam Jay, Langston Kerman, and Jak Knight as four casino employees who attempt to find self-worth in their bad ideas.
