‘iCarly’ Reboot Starring Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress and More Ordered at Paramount+

Grab your PearPhone, because iCarly is coming back to TV! A reboot of the beloved Nickelodeon series is currently in the works and heading to Paramount+, the streaming service currently known as CBS All Access, TV Line reports. The new iCarly series plans to bring back some of the original cast, including star Miranda Cosgrove, as well as Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress.

Paramount+’s iCarly reboot comes from producers Jay Kogen (School of Rock, The Simpsons, Frasier) and Ali Schouten (Diary of a Future President, Champions, Merry Happy Whatever). Kogen confirmed the news on Twitter today, writing, “People were asking what I was doing. Now I can tell you. We get to make iCarly for ADULTS!”

The original Dan Schneider series, which first premiered on Nickelodeon in 2007, ran for five seasons until it ended in 2012. iCarly follows Carly Shay (Cosgrove) and her friends Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie (Kress), who have an unexpected hit on their hands when the web show they make together, titled “iCarly,” suddenly goes viral.

Fans were thrilled with today’s news, sharing their reactions to the reboot on Twitter. “NO WAYYY THEY ARE MAKING AN ICARLY REBOOT! HELL YEH THIS SHOW WAS MY CHILDHOOD,” one wrote.

iCarly was a huge hit for Nickelodeon, earning five Emmy nominations over the years and drawing in and keeping a loyal fanbase with its quirky jokes and recurring bits. After the show ended, Nickelodeon released a spinoff series titled Sam & Cat featuring McCurdy’s character and Ariana Grande’s Victorious characterwhich ran for one season from 2013 to 2014.

Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date or further details about the iCarly reboot yet, but the streaming service officially launches in 2021, so we won’t be seeing it before the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted with any updated, so keep checking back!
