Thank the maker—Disney+ is giving us The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special! If there are two things that go hand in hand despite having zero reason to, they’re Star Wars and Christmas. They don’t even celebrate the holiday in a galaxy far, far away, yet the two just make sense together. Star Wars ornaments, Star Wars holiday sweaters, years of new Star Wars movies in December—they belong together! But for decades, the goodness of Star Wars and the holidays was overshadowed by the notorious Star Wars Holiday Special—a special so bad that no one should ever watch it ever.
Thankfully, Disney+ is fixing that with The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, which looks to be the kind of holly jolly good time that the LEGO team has become known for over the past decade. Now in the first full trailer for the special, we know just what we’re in for: the merriest of time travel hijinks as Rey bops from era to era, meeting all our faves and inspiring some of hilarious inside jokes. But the best gift of all? LEGO. Baby. Yoda. As if the little green tyke couldn’t get any cuter!
This is going to be such a treat, especially for all the Star Wars fans out there who have been dying to have something fun to watch during the holidays while they’re wearing their Santa Vader novelty t-shirt and sitting next to their Star Wars tree. And if there’s anything that the LEGO special carries over from the original 1978 train wreck, let it be Bea Arthur’s cantina owner.
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on November 17.
