Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington Snag Apple TV+ Docuseries

Apple TV+ has ordered The Supermodels, a special event series featuring exclusive interviews with Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington. The multi-part docuseries will follow the four stars’ meteoric rise in the 1980s, their disruption of the ’90s fashion scene, and their present-day shift into activism, philanthropy, and the business of — what else? — fashion.

Directed and executive produced by two-time Academy Award winner Barbara Kopple (Harlan County, USA, American Dream), The Supermodels will explore the unprecedented and iconic careers of Campbell, Crawford, Evangelista, and Turlington. According to Apple’s official description, “The Supermodels travels back to the 1980s, when four women from different corners of the world united in New York. Already forces in their own right, the gravitas they achieved by coming together transcended the industry itself. Their prestige was so extraordinary that it enabled the four to supersede the brands they showcased, making the names Naomi, Cindy, Linda, and Christy, as prominent as the designers who styled them.”

“Today, the four Supermodels remain on the frontlines of culture through activism, philanthropy, and business prowess,” reveals Apple TV+. “As the fashion industry continues to redefine itself — and women’s roles within it — this is the ultimate story of power and how four women came together to claim it, paving the way for those to follow.”

The Supermodels is produced under Apple’s exclusive first-look deal with Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Documentaries. Grazer and Howard will serve as executive producers alongside Campbell, Crawford, Evangelista, and Turlington; Sara Bernstein and Justin Wilkes will also executive produce.

The fashion-forward event series is Apple’s second major documentary project announced this week. Yesterday, the streamer revealed that Bruce Springsteen will be giving fans an inside-look at his songwriting process in new film Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You, out October 23. Apple also recently ordered Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry, a music documentary about the Gen Z star. The Billie Eilish doc is slated to premiere in theaters and on Apple TV+ in February 2021.
