Hulu Offers New Annual Subscription Plan for Ad-Supported Customers

Hulu just got much more affordable. The home of Normal People, The Great and Palm Springs announced a new annual plan today for monthly subscribers that cuts $10 off of the yearly price.

The new plan means that customers on Hulu’s ad-supported tier have the option to pay for a full year of the streaming service for $59.99 instead of paying $5.99 each month, which adds up to $71.88 per year. Hulu’s annual deal cuts two full months of payment, giving customers a year of streaming for the price of 10 months.

The 16% savings deal only extends to a specific set of Hulu customers, so before you get ready to switch over, check your current Hulu plan. Only existing subscribers to Hulu’s ad-supported monthly plan are eligible for the discounted annual deal, so new ad-supported users aren’t so lucky. While Hulu hasn’t rolled out the yearly plan to new customers yet, it plans to offer the discounted deal to new ad-supported subscribers later this year.

Hulu has multiple subscription plans: there’s the standard Hulu, Hulu without ads, Hulu + Live TV, and Hulu + Live TV without ads. The cheapest option is the first tier of Hulu, which costs $5.99 per month. Hulu without ads is nearly double at $11.99 per month, but prices jump when you add the Live TV option — Hulu + Live TV will set you back $54.99 per month. Hulu’s most expensive plan is Live TV without ads, which costs customers $60.99 per month.

Hulu also offers ad-ons, which allow users to stream content from HBO Max, Showtime, Cinemax and Starz for an additional price each month, ranging from $8.99 (Starz) to $14.99 (HBO Max). Hulu hasn’t announced any discount plans for its ad-ons, but now that you can save $10 on your subscription, why not put it toward expanding you streaming selection?
