Bring on the blind dates! Netflix dropped the trailer for Season 2 of its reality dating show Dating Around, and this time, they’re switching up the city. The new season features singles from New Orleans who are all looking for love. But who will get beyond the awkward first date and be invited on a second one?
The new Dating Around trailer introduces an array of prospective couples — some seem to have excellent chemistry right away, while others don’t hit it off so easily. The Season 2 teaser begins with a woman surprised by her date when he greets her with a bouquet of flowers.
“I don’t think I’ve ever gotten flowers before,” she says. “Well hopefully that’s good,” her date replies. The trailer gives more glimpses into the dating lives of New Orleans singles, with one woman calling herself a “hopeless romantic,” while another admits she hasn’t been in a relationship in four years.
Although the show has its sweet scenes, Dating Around doesn’t shy from the awkward dating moments — and in Season 2, it looks like they fully embrace them. On one date, a man says, “I don’t know if you remember my Tinder profile.” His date looks sheepish and says, “I swiped left.” But his date calls him out. “No, you swiped right because we messaged, so don’t play,” he corrects him. In reply, he takes a big gulp from his drink. Hard to imagine the date could get much worse from there.
Just like in Season 2, the new episodes follow six singles who all embark on multiple dates to try and find their ideal match, so we see the same core group, but with different potential partners for every date. Each episode follows a different single contestant and shows them going on five dates. Once they’ve gone on every date, they have the choice to say goodbye forever or invite one person to go on a second date with them.
While dating in real life is still on hold for most of us during the coronavirus pandemic, at least we have Dating Around to live vicariously through. Catch Season 2 of Dating Around on Netflix June 12, and watch the full trailer in the video above.
