Alex Trebek Challenges Pat Sajak to Log Rolling Competition With ‘Jeopardy’ Clue

Alex Trebek is on a roll! The Jeopardy host treated fans to his signature wit again on tonight’s episode, reigniting a friendly feud between himself and Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak.

During a clue in the “Other Sports” category, Trebek hinted at the answer by describing two people who are “struggling to stay on a piece of wood.” But instead of Jack and Rose clinging to the Titanic door, the correct answer was logrolling, a competitive sport where two people battle to stay on top of a log.

Trebek immediately had his own opponent in mind, saying he’d challenge Sajak to it. “I’ll beat him at it, too,” he added. “I’m very lightheaded.”

Fans were delighted at Trebek’s jab, with many saying they would actually buy tickets to see the two gameshow hosts face off in the aquatic sport.

“You’d either pay to see Trebek and Sajak compete in log rolling, or you’re a liar,” one tweeted.

“In a Trebek vs. Sajak log rolling match, Vanna White starts the log rolling,” another added, referring to Sajak’s Wheel of Fortune co-host who is responsible for spinning the wheel on the show.

Tonight’s episode of Jeopardy marks the finale of the Teacher’s Tournament, with contestant Ben Henri winning the grand $100,000 prize.

The two-week-long Teacher’s Tournament was filmed right before the coronavirus shutdown, but we’re creeping up on the last of Jeopardy’s new episodes. According to TVLine, Jeopardy will air its final new episode on June 12, and will begin airing re-runs June 15.

The gameshow already pushed back some of its new episodes last month, airing re-runs of the Greatest of All Time tournament before premiering new material. Jeopardy has not announced a return date for filming, and will only resume when it is safe to do so.
