Is there any binge-watch better than Netflix’s criminally underappreciated Dear White People? If you’ve already consumed all 10 episodes of Season 3 (and I can personally attest to how easy that is), there’s likely one question on your mind: will there be a Dear White People Season 4?
Based on the 2014 film of the same name, Dear White People follows a group of black students at the fictional Winchester University. Throughout their time at Winchester, the students — led by Logan Browning’s Samantha White — are forced to contend with some serious instances of institutionalized racism, a mysterious secret society, and extracurricular drama, not to mention their classwork. With an all-star cast that includes Ashley Blaine Featherson, DeRon Horton, Blair Underwood, Giancarlo Esposito, and more, Dear White People Season 3 continues to expose Winchester’s many flaws with the same wit and nuance viewers have come to expect from the groundbreaking comedy.

Unfortunately, Dear White People has not yet been renewed for a fourth season.
In recent months, Netflix has been canceling shows after their third seasons, when many series begin to lose steam, and Simien’s comedy seems to be acutely aware of this phenomenon: at multiple points in the season premiere, characters compare their undesirable situations to “the third season of a Netflix show.” But even though Simien doesn’t seem too confident about Dear White People Season 4, I’m not giving up hope quite yet. A girl can dream, can’t she?
IS THERE ANY ADDITIONAL INFO ABOUT DEAR WHITE PEOPLE SEASON 4?
Alas, there is not. Details about a potential fourth season are scarce, although there’s plenty of material for Simien to explore if Netflix were to renew the show (**spoilers ahead!**). In the final moments of the Season 3 finale, Troy (Brandon P. Bell) gives Sam (Browning) and Lionel (Horton) a major clue to the mystery they’ve been avoiding for the past nine episodes: a gold Order of X button. Suddenly, Sam and Lionel can no longer ignore the dangerous reality of the society, and the moment suggests that they’ll team up with Troy to take down the Order. But for that to happen, Dear White People has to continue. Is it too early to start petitioning Netflix?
WHEN WILL WE KNOW IF DEAR WHITE PEOPLE IS CANCELED OR RENEWED?
In the past, Netflix has renewed Dear White People about one to two months after each season premiered. If that pattern holds, we should know Dear White People‘s fate in September or early October.
