The Kid Who Would Be King

Attack the Block director Joe Cornish delivered an all-ages spin on Arthurian legend that dazzled families in the theaters earlier this year. The film stars Andy Serkis’ son Louis Ashbourne Serkis as the titular kid who would be king and casts Patrick Stewart as Merlin and Rebecca Ferguson as Morgana. The movie didn’t do so well at the box office, but it was a hit with critics. This is definitely a film that deserves a home video redemption. If you want to rent it, you can pencil this one in for a family movie night after April 16.

Starsky & Hutch

Remember back in the early ’00s when classic TV shows got turned into feature films all the time? Starsky & Hutch was originally a ’70s action TV series about a pair of wild detectives–so of course Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson were cast in the movie remake! This is a comedy through and through, and while it’s been forgotten it actually was a huge box office hit. Maybe it’s worth giving another spin, at least to see Stiller and Wilson at their comedic peak. It’s definitely worth the $0.99 it costs to rent it!
