Searching

This inventive thriller stars John Cho as a man trying desperately to find his missing 16-year-old daughter. That premise doesn’t sound new, but the way it’s executed totally is. The film unfolds like you’re searching through the father’s hard drive, watching the narrative unfold across social media posts, smartphone video, and confessional video diaries. It makes for a truly riveting mystery, one that critics hailed for its originality. Searching is now available to purchase digitally, or you can wait and rent it for a fraction of the price on November 27.

The Equalizer 2

Four years after Denzel Washington first wrecked shop as retired Marine Robert McCall in the first Equalizer film, the Oscar winner returns for one more round of kick-ass. Director Antoine Fuqua returned alongside Washington to continue the story as McCall sets out on a mission to avenge the death of a close friend. The follow-up was another hit, even outgrossing the 2014 film that started the franchise. If you can’t wait to watch Denzel Washington beat the crap out of bad guys, I can’t blame you! You can buy the movie right now, or wait to rent it on December 11.

The Death of Stalin

This critically-acclaimed period piece political comedy comes from Veep creator Armando Iannucci, and is a must-watch for anyone that likes that show’s whipsmart jokes and breakneck paces. Decider’s Joe Reid writes:

There is a darkness around the edges of everything that happens here, befitting the fact that there are decades of bloody history that are impossible to sweep away. It feels jarring, at first, to see the actual work of bloody violence happen inside what we’ve come to feel as the safety of Iannucci’s vulgar playhouse. Which makes it all the more impressive that The Death of Stalin is as funny as it is. It’s not the pillar-to-post festival of quotable insults that In the Loop was, but the steady burn of shameless scheming and posturing really delivers.

Sounds well worth renting in iTunes for under a buck, right??
