This Gaspar Noé movie made headlines for being one of the first erotic films to be released in 3D. The French-Belgian film takes place over the course of five years as it follows the relationship between an American cinema film student and his former French girlfriend. It was met with mixed reviews, but still. 3D erotica is a pretty big selling point.

Directed by Fernando Frias, this Spanish-language comedy-drama follows a model in Mexico City who falls in love with an artist. The movie was Frias’ improvisational debut and stands as a fun and light-hearted watch.

Starring Sônia Braga, this drama follows a 65-year-old retired music critic who has to come to terms with her new life after a developer buys all the units around her. 'My Golden Days'

Directed by Arnaud Desplechin, this 2015 French film is actually a prequel to 1996’s My Sex Life… or How I Got into an Argument. The drama follows a middle-aged anthropologist (Mathieu Amalric) as he reflects back on his youth and the love of his life (Lou Roy-Lecollinet). Some of those flashbacks get a little heated.

Starring Paz Vega and Tristán Ulloa, this 2001 Spanish drama follows a waitress who’s trying to navigate life with her depressed writer boyfriend. 'Whore's Glory'

Directed by Michael Glawogger, this documentary focuses on the lives of prostitutes in Thailand, Bangladesh and Mexico. The documentary takes care to make sure it portrays its subjects as individual subjects first and as members of the world of sex workers second. The film was largely met with critical praise.

Directed by Walerian Borowczyk, the 1973 French erotic anthology follows four stories about the loss of one’s virginity, masturbation, bloodlust, and incest. The film was criticized at the time for being too sexually explicit.
